Axioo and GEAR Computer Launch Virtual Lab, Tackling Tech Illiteracy in Indonesia
Previously, PT Tera Data Indonusa, the parent company of Axioo, inaugurated Indonesia’s first Intelligent Desktop Virtualization (IDV) computer lab in collaboration with PT Indo Mega Vision.
This groundbreaking IDV lab, located at SMK Pertiwi in Kuningan, West Java, is supported by Intel Corporation and other industry players.
The lab aims to enhance computer learning and contribute to government efforts to eradicate technological illiteracy in Indonesia.
Timmy Theopelus, VP of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships at PT Tera Data Indonusa, highlighted that one of the key factors behind the high rate of technological illiteracy in Indonesia is the limited access to computers compared to other countries.
This issue is partly due to budget constraints and high electricity costs, which are challenges faced by many schools, especially in underdeveloped regions.
Addressing technological illiteracy is crucial to achieving Indonesia’s goal of a “golden generation” by 2045.
The IDV lab at SMK Pertiwi is designed to provide a solution for schools with limited budgets and electricity resources, allowing them to have energy-efficient computer labs with adequate specifications.
For reference, Intel’s Intelligent Desktop Virtualization technology is currently integrated into products from GEAR Computer. Including GEAR VLab and Axioo’s EzyLinX.

Students can even use different operating systems based on their individual needs.
Sugiyanto Sutikno, President Director of PT Indo Mega Vision, stated, “GEAR VLab and Axioo EzylinX are the results of years of research with Intel Corporation. These solutions are expected to meet the computing needs of schools. Especially those with tight budgets, as electricity costs continue to rise annually.”
The virtualized technology from Intel, coupled with hardware support from GEAR VLab and Axioo EzyLinX. This will enhance students’ learning experiences by offering digital libraries, interactive learning, educational videos, and examination tools.
Schools that implement this system will benefit from not only increased educational efficiency. But also significant cost savings, reducing electricity consumption by 60 to 70 percent.
