freecores.com – Samsung has quietly launched its mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A16 5G, in Europe. This device serves as the successor to the Galaxy A15 5G, which was released last year.
The Galaxy A16 5G comes with several enhancements. It features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. This display is slightly larger than its predecessor, offering a more immersive and smoother visual experience.
One of the most noticeable changes is the shift in the chipset used. The GalaxyA16 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset, in contrast to the Exynos 1300 found in the Galaxy A15.
On the camera front, there are no significant changes compared to its predecessor. The GalaxyA16 5G maintains a triple-camera setup, which includes a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, it is equipped with a 13MP front camera, ensuring quality results across various lighting conditions.

The Galaxy A16 5G runs on Android 14 with One UI 6, providing an intuitive user experience. Interestingly, Samsung is extending its commitment to long software support beyond its flagship devices. The company guarantees that the GalaxyA16 5G will receive software updates for up to six years, including security updates a first for its mid-range devices.
With this extended support, the Galaxy A16 5G will receive updates until at least October 2030. This long-term support allows mid-range smartphone users to enjoy their devices for an extended period.
However, Samsung has removed the 3.5mm audio jack from this smartphone, which may disappoint some users who prefer wired headsets.
The device is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging, although the charger is sold separately. The Galaxy A16 5G is available in three colors: Midnight Blue, Turquoise, and Grey.
With these advancements, Samsung aims to provide an enhanced user experience while ensuring that their mid-range smartphones receive substantial support in the years to come.
