freecores.com – Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy A16 4G as its latest entry-level smartphone. This new device comes with significant improvements over its predecessor, the Galaxy A15.
According to information from GSM Arena on Saturday (October 19, 2024), one of the standout features of the Galaxy A16 is its long-term software support. The device is expected to receive Android updates and security patches for up to six years.
With this support, the device is set to remain functional for an extended period something rarely seen in entry-level devices.
The Galaxy A16 sports a slimmer and more elegant design compared to the Galaxy A15. With a thickness of only 7.9mm, this smartphone offers a more comfortable grip.
Additionally, the device comes with an IP54 rating, making it resistant to dust and water splashes. This marks another improvement, as its predecessor did not have any IP rating.
This Samsung phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It also features a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging, ensuring robust performance.
The Galaxy A16 4G boasts a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 50MP main lens, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies and video calls, there is a 13MP front-facing camera.
As of now, the price for the Samsung Galaxy A16 4G has not been announced. However, it is expected to be priced lower than the 5G version.

Earlier, Samsung had introduced the Galaxy A16 5G. Compared to its predecessor, this phone offers several notable upgrades, particularly in terms of software update duration.
As quoted from GSM Arena on Tuesday (October 8, 2024), one of the key selling points of the Galaxy A16 5G is Samsung’s long-term commitment to providing software updates for this device.
Samsung promises that the device will receive up to six Android updates, along with six years of security updates, ensuring software support until 2030.
This is particularly noteworthy, as such long-term software support is rarely found in mid-range, let alone entry-level devices. This guarantee allows Galaxy A16 users to enjoy their devices for an extended period.
In terms of hardware, Samsung has equipped this device with the Exynos 1330 chipset in Europe. For other markets such as India and Thailand, Samsung is expected to use the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset.
The Galaxy A16 5G comes with a single memory configuration, offering 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. However, users can expand the storage further via a microSD card.
This Samsung phone features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, and it supports a 90Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals.
